The Magic of Lavender Season
Lavender season is more than just a visual feast—it’s a sensory experience that touches every part of your being. Fields upon fields of vibrant purple flowers swaying gently in the summer breeze, the soothing hum of bees flitting from bloom to bloom, and that unmistakable, calming scent of lavender that seems to linger everywhere. It’s a time when the beauty of nature is at its peak, and every moment feels like a scene from a dream.

One of the greatest joys of living at La Belugue is our proximity to some of the most stunning lavender fields in Provence. Let me share with you a few of my favorite spots, each just a short drive away from home.

Just a 40-minute drive from La Belugue, the Valensole Plateau is legendary for its endless stretches of lavender. It’s one of those places that you have to see to believe. The fields seem to go on forever, creating a breathtaking sea of purple against the clear blue sky. It’s a photographer’s paradise, and trust me, you won’t be able to resist capturing the beauty all around you.

Right here in Beaumont de Pertuis, we have our own local lavender farmer with fields just a 10-minute walk from La Belugue. These fields offer a more intimate and serene experience, perfect for a peaceful stroll or a quiet moment of reflection amidst the lavender blooms.

About an hour away, Sault is often referred to as the heart of lavender country. The drive there is a treat in itself, with scenic routes lined with lavender fields and quaint villages. Once you arrive, the view from the hilltop village is simply spectacular. If you visit in mid-August, you’ll get to experience the annual lavender festival—a vibrant celebration that highlights the best of Provençal culture and tradition.
Luberon Valley
Roughly 45 minutes from La Belugue, the Luberon Valley offers a different kind of charm. The area around Gordes and Roussillon is dotted with charming villages and stunning landscapes. The lavender fields here are interspersed with vineyards and olive groves, creating a mosaic of colors that’s a feast for the eyes. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely drive or a picnic amidst nature’s splendor.
